The Dome
At noon, when the sun is high in the sky, it is easy to pipe light from outside in. But in the UK, for the majority of the year, the sun is at an angle to a building’s roof so it needs help to travel down the tube. Only Solatube® Daylighting Systems include patented optical technology features and lenses designed to redirect as much light as possible into the top of the tube. Developed over many years as a result of our significant investment in R&D, these features are not available with any other systems and result in up to twice as much light entering the top of the tube.
The Tube
Solatube® Daylighting Systems are the only Tubular Daylighting Devices at use Spectralight® Infinity, the most reflective tubing on the market, delivering 99.7% reflectivity. When comparing systems, it is vital to note that systems which do not use Spectralight® Infinity will deliver significantly less light. For example, if the light has to bounce 20 times to get from the top to the bottom of the tube, a difference of just 1% in the reflectivity of the tube material equates to nearly 20% of the source light being lost before delivery to the end of the tube.
The Diffuser
With Solatube® Daylighting Systems’ four diffuser styles* to distribute the light evenly around the room, you are never forced to surrender aesthetic suitability to achieve the best technical performance and can always ensure that the chosen solution complements the daylit interior. And, to minimise heat loss and gain, all our diffusers are both double-glazed and UV shielded.
